During week three of the Florida Legislative Session, both the House and the Senate released their budget proposals for the upcoming fiscal year. Florida Cattlemen’s Association (FCA) Director of Governmental Affairs, Sam Ard, runs through some of the numbers.
As Ard mentioned, funding for the Florida Forever program for this year is only $33 million. But in the proposals for next year’s budget, the House is looking at only $20 million for the program, while the Senate would provide $125 million. So budget issues have begun, as lawmakers prepare to negotiate a final spending plan for the 2020-2021 fiscal year which starts July 1.
