USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) in Florida has announced they will conduct a State Technical Committee Meeting on May 21, from 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Doyle Conner Agriculture Building Auditorium in Gainesville.
The meeting is open to the public and will give an overview of the 2018 Farm Bill programs and conservation easements. This year’s meeting format has been changed to encourage more two-way participation. NRCS will solicit recommendations for establishing technical guidelines, program criteria and conservation priorities in Florida. Participants will break into workgroups to discuss forestry/wildlife, grazing, water quality and quantity, and soil health/organics.
Chaired by NRCS Florida State Conservationist Russell Morgan, the committee is composed of individuals and groups from a variety of agricultural and natural resource interests.
Individuals who want to get on the agenda or require special accommodations or materials in an alternative format or language, need to contact Nina Bhattacharyya at 352-338-9554 by May 14.
