Everett Griner talks about a crop that is marked across the world in today’s Agri View.
Pineapple. One of the tastiest crops we grow. It is one of the most versatile too. Most of the marketable crop is grown in Hawaii, but, that is not where it started.
The original home of the pineapple was South America. It was carried to the islands when a lot of land in both North and South America was being explored.
It turned out Hawaii had the land, and the weather, that was good for growing pineapples. It turned into a commercial crop not long after. It is a difficult crop to grow. Like any fruit crop, it is labor intense from planting to harvest. Its taste, and its flavor, makes it acceptable anywhere in the world. The juice alone makes it an acceptable crop.
I grew one, one time. Just a single pineapple. I was surprised at how long it took. It wasn’t as good as those I bought either. It was pretty though.
That’s Agri View for today. I’m Everett Griner…
