Continuing her series on food safety for this weekend’s party Cathy Isom has some more food safety tips to ensure your Super Bowl Party is a success. That’s coming up on This Land of Ours.
More Safety Tips for Super Bowl Food
No matter which way you slice it, dice it, bake it, grill it or fry it, don’t forget to keep your food safety playbook handy when serving up your prized Super Bowl treats. It will be a long day of eating, which means foods will be left out on the table or counter for long periods of time. Be sure and follow these food safety rules, so there won’t be any penalties.
Keep hot food hot and cold food cold. Bring in extra ice and coolers if needed. Hot foods must have a heat source to keep them at or warmer than 140 °F. Cold foods should be kept on ice to remain at a safe temperature at or below 40 °F.
Perishable foods left out longer than two hours should be discarded and replenished with fresh servings.
Also, never reuse paper towels. That’s just asking for bacteria which can find its way on the towel and hitch a ride around the kitchen.
