Cathy Isom has delicious tips about a month long celebration for a traditional soup that’s famous at family gatherings. That’s coming on This Land of Ours.
Celebrating Menudo, a Traditional Soup
January is known as National Menudo Month. And there’s no better time than now to learn a great new culinary tradition!
Menudo is a traditional soup made with beef tripe and hominy, a favorite at Mexican family gatherings and special celebrations. The secret to delicious menudo is quality ingredients, and the time it takes to prepare it. In order to be soft and tender, tripe needs to be cooked for a very long time…up to 10 hours! That’s why menudo is the perfect dish for bringing generations together and for passing down traditions.
Now through the end of the month, try your hand at this culinary favorite that’s offered in so many households. Make your delicious kettle of menudo and share it with friends and family then use the hashtag #NationalMenudoMonth to post on social media.
