Cathy Isom has some great ideas for some earth-friendly ways of making and wrapping your holiday gifts this year. That’s coming up on This Land of Ours.
Earth-Friendly Wrapping for Holiday Gifts
This year in the spirit of the season why not try giving back to Mother Earth by doing things a little different when it comes to giving gifts.
One suggestion is to ditch the gifts altogether, but that could be a little tough, especially for family with little ones. Still cutting back on the amount of gift giving is possible. Or perhaps giving a handmade gift from upcycled materials. Make handmade decorations that come from the earth, such as pine cones, holly, and yule locks. Or, by giving gifts that are handmade in the kitchen. Who wouldn’t want a little sweet treat or some homemade bread?
Then when it comes to wrapping our gifts, instead of going out and buying expensive paper that will just be tossed into the trash, reach for old newspapers or paper bags. Do your best to reuse wrapping paper and gift bags that you have also received in the past. Anything that can be used over and over and hopefully won’t end up clogging up our landfills.
Have a Very Merry Christmas.
