Congresswoman Roby and Congressman Bishop co-chair Peanut Caucus
The Southern Peanut Farmers Federation, American Peanut Shellers Association and National Peanut Buying Points Association joined together to recognize members of the Congressional Peanut Caucus at a reception Dec. 5, 2017, in Washington, D.C. United States Congresswoman Martha Roby, R-Alabama, and Congressman Sanford Bishop, D-Georgia, serve as co-chairs of the Congressional Peanut Caucus.
The Congressional Peanut Caucus is a bipartisan alliance of Members of Congress whose mission is to ensure peanut interests have a strong voice in the U.S. Congress and that peanut issues are given considerable thought in agricultural policy.
Throughout the evening, many members of Congress and their staff visited with peanut farmers, buying point operators and peanut sheller representatives regarding various issues affecting the future of the peanut industry. The peanut industry praised the Congressional Peanut Caucus members and their staff for their continued support for American agriculture and specifically, peanuts.
The Southern Peanut Farmers Federation partners include the Alabama Peanut Producers Association, Florida Peanut Producers Association, Georgia Peanut Commission and Mississippi Peanut Growers Association.
