Now that the relatives are gone and Thanksgiving is over, it’s time to clean things up and get ready for the next round of visitors in the coming weeks.

Here are some easy and money-saving ways to get things spiffy without breaking the bank. Check your counter or your fridge, because you might already have everything you need. To get rid of bugs – plant some herbs like basil and lavender. To disinfect and scrub, combine vinegar, grapefruit juice and baking soda to make a homemade cleaner.

Potatoes will remove rust.

Cucumbers will erase scuff marks, defog mirrors, and when rubbed on stainless steel will make it shine.

If you want to bring some dull looking wood floor or dinged up wooden furniture back to life, clean it with a banana.

Mash up the fruit and rub over the floor. Wipe clean and buff for a healthy shine.

Need to get rid of odors? Open a jar of citrus juice – muddled with your favorite smelling herbs and spices. Set it on your countertop or simmer over a low flame for a fresh, clean smelling room.
