The labor dispute affecting West Coast ports is taking a toll on people who grow and ship California citrus fruit. According to a story from the California Farm Bureau Federation, one Fresno County packinghouse would normally be preparing 15 to 20 loads of citrus each week for sale to customers in Asia. Instead, it’s doing only two to three loads a week, meaning that packinghouse employees are working fewer hours. Farmers in California say they have had to delay citrus fruit harvest due to the port problems.
