Increased exports and lower imports have resulted in significant growth in U.S. net beef exports the last few months. The U.S. exported 42-million more pounds of beef than it imported from January through July. For the same seven month period in 2012, the U.S. imported 30-million more pounds of beef than it exported. According to the latest World Agriculture Supply and Demand Estimates report, U.S. beef imports for 2013 are forecast at 2.298-million pounds, with exports forecast at 2.408-million pounds. If realized, the U.S. would be a net exporter of beef for the fourth consecutive year.
