The University of Florida/IFAS West Florida Research and Education Center hosted their annual Extension Farm Field Day today near Jay, Florida. Some of the various topics discussed included peanut diseases and fungicide programs, soybean varieties and insect control options, management of foliar diseases in cotton, and weed control issues.
University of Florida peanut specialist, Dr. Barry Tillman, told those in attendance about the various issues found with this year’s peanut crop including worries about disease problems being found in some fields.
Dr. Ramon Leon, Assistant Professor and Weed Science Specialist with the University of Florida, covered weed problems being found this year and updated farmers about research efforts concerning control of problem weeds.
