Dalton Yancey Named Sugar Man of the Year

Dalton YanceyDalton Yancey, the former Chief Executive Officer of the Florida Sugar Cane League, has been named the “Sugar Man of the Year 2012.” A highly respected leader in the sugar industry, Mr. Yancey received the coveted Dyer Memorial Award at an affair in New York City.

Mr. Yancey, who also represented sugarcane producers in Hawaii and Texas, played a major role in the development of the nation’s sugar policy. As the three-time Chairman of the American Sugar Alliance, which represents all of the nation’s sugar beet and sugarcane growers, processors and refiners, Mr. Yancey helped coordinate the industry’s efforts on the legislative front. He also represented the sugar industry in the development of a number of international trade agreements that included sugar. Mr. Yancey was born in Lakeland, Florida and raised on a third-generation citrus farm. He received a degree from the University of Florida and served as an army officer in Vietnam. Mr. Yancey is the 55th recipient of the Dyer Memorial Award, which is sponsored by the Sugar Club, an international sugar.
