Jim Snively and Dave Crumbly were among the 150-plus attending a recent mechanical harvesting symposium in Lake Alfred. Snively, vice president of grove operations at Southern Gardens Citrus, in the first reports tells when and why his company will resume mechanical harvesting and discusses mechanical harvesting changes he thinks will come.
In the final report, Crumbly, a Florida’s Natural Growers vice president, discusses an abscission agent that will hopefully aid mechanical harvesting and his concerns about the condition of mechanically harvested fruit loads.
