Olives Won’t Be Easy For Florida Citrus Growers to Produce
Several Florida citrus growers were among a crowd at a recent Lake Alfred workshop on the potential for olive production in Florida. Speaker Louise Ferguson, an Extension specialist with the University of California-Davis, says the climate in Florida’s citrus region presents obstacles to olive production. She suggests that those who want to try olives start with small field trials of several cultivars, but agrees that olive production will be a stretch for most citrus growers. Hear her reports.
