The annual Gulf Citrus Industry Banquet will take place on Aug. 17 at the Harborside Event Center in Fort Myers from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Gulf Citrus Growers Association President Wayne Simmons says the banquet is an opportunity to discuss topics and events that are affecting citrus growers throughout the state with fellow growers, industry representatives and political leaders who support the citrus industry. “We are very fortunate to have as our guest speaker Florida Commissioner of Agriculture Adam Putnam,” reports Simmons. “He will give us an update on issues that are affecting agriculture and the citrus industry.” Call 863-675-2180 for banquet reservations.
