It’s only the first day, but already we are able to report it’s a record crowd for Southeast AgNet/Citrus Industry Magazine’s annual Citrus Expo. The number of pre-registrations combined with the walk-in registrations this morning were enough to reach that status. The seminars and trade show continues this afternoon with tomorrow’s events yet to come.
Many growers have heard the early estimates of this years citrus crop, but the National Agriculture Statistics Service official numbers do not come out until October 8th. I stopped by their booth here at Citrus Expo and caught up with Jeff Geuder, Director of the Florida Ag Statistics and Deputy Director Jim Ewing. Geuder said his staff is already working on this year’s citrus count.
