Plant pathologist Eduardo Feichtenberger from the Instituto Biológico, of the São Paulo State Department of Agriculture, will discuss how Brazil manages citrus black spot on Aug. 19 at 10:00 a.m. during the Citrus Expo seminars. With a bachelor’s degree in agronomy (1971) and in business administration (1973), and an master’s degree in plant pathology from the University of California – Riverside (1979), Feichtenberger’s research work has included etiology, epidemiology, ecology and control of the major citrus diseases by Phytophthora and by fungi in Brazil, mostly on black spot, postbloom fruit drop, Alternaria brown spot (ABS), scab diseases and melanose. He has had more than 200 papers and book chapters published on citrus diseases. Feichtenberger is a past president of the Brazilian Society of Plant Pathology (1983-1984) and is coordinator of the Working Group of Citrus Diseases and Pests of the Inter-American Citrus Network of the Food and Agriculture Organization.
