Citrus Crop Loss To Be Known Soon; Tree Damage By September

Dan Citrus, Florida

Candi Erick, USDA's agricultural statistics administrator for Florida

The February 9 USDA crop forecast will give some indication how much of Florida’s citrus crop was lost to the January freezes; the March forecast will give a more complete picture, Candi Erick, USDA’s agricultural statistics administrator for Florida, says in the first report. That report also notes that the Florida Department of Citrus budget has been cut some because of the freeze, and will likely be cut more following the February forecast.
