Former North Dakota governor Ed Schafer sailed through his confirmation hearing with the Senate Ag Committee last week and said he looked forward to helping Congress and the administration finally get a farm bill signed into law.
Senate committee members were working hard to get Schafer confirmed by Monday as the new Secretary of Agriculture in time to take his seat at the State of the Union address Monday night as a member of the cabinet.
