The Acting Secretary of Agriculture Chuck Conner held a telephone press conference with reporters Monday to talk about his priorities.
Conner is an Indiana farm boy who has served as Deputy Secretary of Agriculture under Johanns since 2005. President Bush has not yet nominated a permanent secretary to replace Mike Johanns who resigned last week to run for US Senator in Nebraska, but Conner is thought to be front runner for the post.
