Cathy Isom tells us about a day dedicated to supporting farmers in need. That’s coming up on This Land of Ours.

Every third Thursday in March is National Farm Rescuer Day. It began over a decade ago by the non-profit organization Farm Rescue to recognize all the amazing men and women who do everything to help get the crops in the ground – or to the market – from all across the country. Farm Rescue has helped hundreds of families across This Land of Ours, who’ve faced some type of crisis. National Farm Rescuer Day encourages everyone to get involved in the community that lends a hand when something should happen in the form of injury, illness or natural disaster. There are several ways to get involved. Whether it’s volunteering your skills and your time, or supporting a volunteer by becoming a sponsor. Or, by making an individual donation. Most importantly on this day, don’t forget to thank a Farm Rescuer and spread the word by using hashtag be a farm rescuer (#BeAFarmRescuer) and hashtag Farm Rescuer (#FarmRescuer) day on social media.

Our work is made possible through a dedicated group of volunteers and sponsors and we hope you’ll join us in recognizing their efforts. National Farm Rescuer Day is now an annual observance by National Day Calendar, and will be celebrated on the third Thursday in March. We hope you’ll join us in thanking our wonderful Farm Rescuers and consider becoming one yourself! #BeAFarmRescuer
