Lowest Cattle Inventory Since 1952

While USDA’s new inventory report of the nation’s cattle herd is full of lower numbers, there is one that is actually up as beef replacement heifers saw a 2 percent jump from last year. But overall the number of all cattle and calves in the U.S. as of January 1, 2013 is 2 percent below last year and is the lowest January 1 inventory since 1952.
