The Citrus Health Management Areas (CHMAs) that growers use to coordinate sprays for HLB-spreading psyllids are working very well, says the state’s top agricultural pest fighter. Greg Carlton, chief of the agriculture department’s Bureau of Pest Eradication and Control, tells how many CHMAs there are and gives a broad overview of their results. He also discusses possible future uses for CHMAs, non-participating growers and abandoned groves.
