Fla. Citrus Production In 10 Years May Be Near Current Levels

Dan Citrus, Florida

Florida Department of Citrus economist Mark Brown

Florida Department of Citrus economist Mark Brown in the first report projects that Florida could produce approximately 140 million boxes of oranges and 19 million boxes of grapefruit in 10 years, very close to current levels. The optimistic projection is based in part on recent good psyllid control practices and evidence that many growers are replanting trees. In the second report, Brown gives foliar nutrition programs that are keeping HLB-infected trees productive some of the credit for the good projections.
