All cotton production is forecast at 14.4 million 480-pound bales, up 1 percent from the previous forecast and up 19 percent from 2023. Based on conditions as of January 1, yields are expected to average 836 pounds per harvested acre, up 44 pounds from the previous forecast but down 63 pounds from 2023. All cotton area harvested is forecast at 8.27 million acres, down 4 percent from the previous estimate but up 28 percent from last year.

Cotton production in Georgia is forecast at 1.93 million bales, down 11 percent from last year. In Alabama, production is estimated at 655,000 bales, 10 percent below 2023. Florida production is expected to total 125,000 bales, 13 percent above last year.
