The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) weekly crop report shows that as of this past Sunday, cotton harvest continues to be ahead of averages in most states. USDA meteorologist Brad Rippey has this update.

The USDA report notes this is how the cotton and peanut harvests were progressing across the Southeast as of this past Sunday:
In Alabama, cotton harvested was 79 percent, which compares to 76 percent last year with the 5-year average being 70 percent. Peanuts dug are at 96 percent, which compares to 96 percent last year and the 5-year average of 95 percent. Peanuts harvested were 84 percent, which compares to 89 percent this time last year while the 5-year average is 88 percent.
In Florida, cotton harvested was 50 percent, which compares to 58 percent last year and the 5-year average is 46 percent. Peanuts harvested were 97 percent, which compares to 95 percent this time last year while the 5-year average is 96 percent.
In Georgia, cotton harvested was 60 percent, which compares to 54 percent last year while the 5-year average is 59 percent. Peanuts dug are at 91 percent, which compares to 93 percent last year and the 5-year average of 95 percent. Peanuts harvested were 78 percent, which compares to 85 percent this time last year while the 5-year average is 87 percent.
