Last Thursday, Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack and Farm Service Agency Administrator Zach Ducheneaux were in both Florida and Georgia to assess damage and meet with farmers and residents affected by Hurricane Helene.

Vilsack highlighted that USDA is taking measures like extending program signup opportunities and using waivers and emergency procedures to expedite recovery efforts on America’s working lands.

And while those efforts continue in various ways Vilsack talked about how some local USDA service centers were affected and how they are providing a stress hotline to assist producers dealing with the impacts of the storm.

The stress hotline number again is 888-381-7243. Plus, a full list of FSA disaster assistance programs is available on the Hurricane webpage on farmers.gov.
