AL Livestock Market Report:

At Alabama Livestock Auctions, for the week ended August 9, 2024, receipts at 16 markets totaled 14,241 head compared to 9,819 last week and 12,410 last year. Compared to two weeks ago: Slaughter cows sold 3.00 to 10.00 higher, slaughter bulls sold 1.00 to 4.00 higher. All feeder classes sold sharply lower. Trade moderate to active with moderate demand on feeder cattle. Replacement cattle sold steady to firm.  Year-to-date receipts totaled 308,405 compared to 372,889 last year.

Compared to last week:  Slaughter cows 3.00 to 6.00 higher, and slaughter bulls 3.00 to 5.00 higher. Feeder classes 2.00 to 5.00 lower. Replacement cows not tested. Year-to-date receipts totaled 189,314 compared to 206,077 last year.

At Georgia Livestock Auctions, for the week ended August 9, 2024, receipts at 20 markets 5,668 compared to 7,974 last week reported and 8,145 last year.  Compared to last week: Slaughter cows and bulls sold 3.00 to 12.00 higher. Feeder classes sold 8.00 to 15.00 lower. Replacement cows mostly steady. Year-to-date receipts totaled 244,869 compared to 267,150 last year.
