According to a new report, corn growers were responsible for a $151 billion boost to the U.S. economy last year.
The National Corn Growers Association (NCGA) notes the report looks at various ways corn growers contributed to the economy. U.S. farmers produced 15.3 billion bushels of corn, valued at $73.9 billion. Corn grower production directly conti9buted $20.7 billion to the gross domestic product and also provided $12 billion in labor wages and benefits.
But this report comes as corn prices have dropped and growers are facing many challenges this year.
