The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) invites agricultural producers and private landowners to sign-up for the Grassland Conservation Reserve Program (CRP), which runs until June 28, 2024.

Offered by the USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA), Grassland CRP is a voluntary working lands conservation program that enables participants to conserve grassland and provide important conservation benefits for wildlife, soil health, and carbon sequestration, all while continuing most grazing and haying practices.

FSA Administrator Zach Ducheneaux said, “Grassland CRP is a vital conservation tool that supports two of USDA’s top priorities: the well-being of American agriculture and the health of America’s grasslands, which provide critical environmental benefits for wildlife and carbon sequestration.”

More than 2.3 million acres were accepted in last year’s sign-up.

  • Citric Acid Findings Could Help Breeders Develop Better Varieties
The characteristic sour-sweet balance of citrus fruits is largely defined by citric acid accumulation in the vacuoles of juice sacs. Previous studies identified several proteins — such as CsPH8, CsAN1 and CsPH4 — that control acid storage and transport. However, little was known about the CsAN11 protein. Many citrus cultivars exhibit wide variations in acidity, […]
