At Alabama Livestock Auctions, for the week ended May 3, 2024, receipts at 16 markets totaled an estimated 9,421 head compared to 8,644 last week and 13,144 last year. Compared to last week: Slaughter cows sold 1.00 to 4.00 lower and slaughter bulls sold steady. Feeder steers sold 5.00 to 10.00 lower, feeder heifers sold steady to 3.00 higher, and feeder bulls sold 1.00 to 5.00 lower. Trade active with good demand on feeder cattle. Replacement cows sold steady. Year-to-date receipts totaled 172,195 compared to 201,353 last year.
