Both cotton and peanut harvests continues across the Southeast. USDA Meteorologist Brad Rippey first runs through the latest on cotton harvest progress.

And Rippey looks at what the USDA report says about the peanut harvest as of this past Sunday.

In Alabama, cotton bolls opening is 98 percent, which compares to 88 percent last year with the 5-year average at 93 percent. Cotton harvested is 47 percent, which compares to 21 percent last year and the 5-year average is 39 percent. Peanuts dug are at 82 percent. That compares to 69 percent this time last year while the 5-year average is 80 percent. Peanuts harvested are at 70 percent, which compares to 46 percent last year, while the 5-year average is 64 percent.

In Florida, cotton bolls opening is 98 percent, which compares to 83 percent last year with the 5-year average at 89 percent. Cotton harvested is 25 percent, which compares to 15 percent last year and the 5-year average is 18 percent. Peanuts dug are at 93 percent. That compares to 85 percent this time last year while the 5-year average is 89 percent. Peanuts harvested are at 84 percent, which compares to 67 percent last year, while the 5-year average is 77 percent.

In Georgia, cotton bolls opening is 94 percent, which compares to 90 percent last year with the 5-year average at 94 percent. Cotton harvested is 37 percent, which compares to 22 percent last year and the 5-year average is 34 percent. Peanuts dug are at 84 percent. That compares to 71 percent this time last year while the 5-year average is 79 percent. Peanuts harvested are at 72 percent, which compares to 51 percent last year, while the 5-year average is 63 percent.
