The Georgia Cotton Commission (GCC) and Georgia Public Broadcasting are collaborating to livestream an educational and interactive program about cotton.
Live Exploration: Georgia Cotton will be featured on May 11 at 10 a.m. Those interested can hear from various industry experts about the history of cotton, what products are derived from cotton and the crop’s impact on Georgia’s economy.
Caroline Snider, an education and outreach specialist at GCC, discusses what viewers can expect during the one-hour program.
“It’s an educational program for teachers and students. But of course, anyone can watch it and learn something from it,” Snider said. “It hits standards for Georgia standards for teaching. But the focus is more around third through eighth graders. Teachers can get on there and register their classroom for it. It can be super-interactive that way or you can just turn on the T.V. and watch GPB live.”
There will be pre-recorded video of prior interviews and B-roll within the one-hour segment. There will also be a live portion segment where students can interact with industry leaders.
Students will be encouraged to ask questions of the experts who will be featured.

Georgia Cotton Live Exploration will be available on demand online after May 11 with supplemental classroom resources for grades K-12. This program will be televised on GPB-TV and live streamed on gpb.org/cotton.
