The Georgia Peanut Commission (GPC) invites the general public to its Peanut Palooza event, scheduled for Saturday, April 23, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the GPC office in Tifton.
Joy Crosby, GPC assistant executive director, discusses what attendees can expect at this week’s event.
“The Peanut Palooza is a family-friendly event. We’ll have lots of samples of peanuts, everything from boiled peanuts to roasted peanuts to peanut butter cupcakes and more,” Crosby said. “The event also offers opportunities for the kids to get involved. While they’re here they can plant some peanut seed. We’ll have different prizes and giveaways in our gift shop and even photo opportunities for kids to sit inside of a tractor.
“The Georgia Foundation for Agriculture will be here with their mobile Ag experience. It’s a STEM-based mobile classroom that showcases Georgia agriculture. It’s a 36-foot trailer that includes a variety of information that includes farm photos, interactive technology and displays teaching kids about the various Ag commodities. There is a section inside the mobile classroom about peanuts. We hope everyone in the area would come out and celebrate peanuts during our Peanut Palooza event. Sample some peanuts this Saturday and learn more about the peanut industry in Georgia.”
The GPC office is located at 445 Fulwood Blvd. in Tifton. This event is free to the public.
“We would like to invite everyone in the area to come out so they can have a good day celebrating peanuts and learn more about peanuts and the importance of peanuts to Georgia’s economy,” Crosby said.
