The North Florida Research and Education Center in Marianna, Florida will host a Beef & Forage Field Day at their Beef Unit on Thursday, September 30. The event will feature a tour of research and demonstration plots at the station, located one mile west of Greenwood, Florida on Highway 162.
Topics to be discussed include mycotoxins in forages and toxic weeds, preparing for breeding season, pasture weeds impact on cattle performance, perennial peanut and bahiagrass blended pastures, limpograss for extending the grazing season, and silage for stocker cattle or replacement heifers.
Lunch will be provided at noon, with an optional tour of grazing cover-crops and grass-legume mixtures after lunch.
Registration will begin at 8:00am CDT, with the tour starting at 9:00am. The registration fee for is $10 per person, payable at the event.
