But this last week it was evident that isn’t going to happen, as Legislators will need extra time to hammer out the state budget for next fiscal year. The some $1.5 billion gap between the proposed Senate and House bills is making it difficult for budget conferees to reach a compromise. So efforts to finalize the state budget continues to be high priority as lawmakers negotiate the spending plan for the 2020-2021 fiscal year, which starts July 1.
