The Alabama Cooperative Extension System (ACES) crop specialists started their auxin herbicide trainings last week, and they continue this week at various locations. The program is designed to fulfill Xtendimax, FeXapan and Engenia label requirements, helping applicators reduce herbicide drift incidents with susceptible crops. The program will also provide information on technical application methods, tank cleanout and new chemistry.
The producer, certified applicator or person responsible for the application on resistant cotton and soybean varieties in Alabama, must receive this training. Though trainings were offered in 2019, this program will highlight new information and research updates as well as information covered in previous trainings.
Applicators will need to have either a commercial or private applicator permit, in conjunction with this training, to be eligible to purchase and apply dicamba to resistant crops.
Meetings will continue through March 16 and registration is only $15. For more information visit www.aces.edu or call your county Extension office.
