Many in agriculture had hoped the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) would be passed this year, but it now is appearing doubtful. After Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi met with U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer and House Ways and Means Committee Chair Richard Neal last week, there was still no deal and there is not much time left on the legislative clock. Trade is an important issue to all of agriculture, including the American Sheep Industry Association (ASI). And ASI President Benny Cox discusses how USMCA would help sheep producers.
The U.S. House only has eight days of official session left in the 2019 calendar year, so many in agriculture are urging their representatives in Congress to get USMCA passed.
