Congress returned to session this week but is facing a busy legislative agenda with little time to get it done. But one item of interest to many in agriculture is passing the U.S. Mexico Canada (USMCA) trade agreement, worth some $2 billion in new export sales. Mexico has ratified it, Canada says it will, but U.S. lawmakers are busy with many other issues too. Including last week, the House is only in for 13-legislative days this month, before another two-week recess. But, many farm groups are urging Congress and the administration to finalize the USMCA agreement. And as Gary Crawford reports, Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue continues to express his optimism that Congress will approve the trade agreement.
