The Alabama Soil and Water Conservation Committee has been working with the USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), the Alabama Cooperative Extension System (ACES) and Auburn University (AU), to identify which watersheds will have funding priority.

In response to this initiative, Alabama Extension will host two free irrigation workshops for producers that include trainings, as well as on-farm demonstrations of the best irrigation practices and technologies. The first workshop will be held January 22nd in Decatur with the second one taking place January 23rd in Dothan, both running from 8:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.

The workshops will cover various aspects of center pivot and drip irrigation systems. Topics include selection of center pivot sprinkler packages, irrigation pumping, variable rate irrigation, fertigation along with irrigation scheduling and methods.
