Everett Griner talks about the research which goes on across the country as the honey bee losses continue to rise in today’s Agri View.
Honey Bee Losses Continue to Rise
One of the organizations that keeps track of the honey bee situation since long before the Colony Collapse Disorder (CCD) problem has issues another of it’s annual reports. It isn’t as bad as we have had, but, it’s not good.
Total colony losses since all of this started well above 40 percent. Let that sink in for a moment… 40 percent of beekeepers have lost nearly half of all the colonized bees in this country. That’s not all. Annual colony for 2017 were up another 7 percent. They’re not optimistic about this year. There is no estimate yet, but, they are looking at another 10 percent this year. Yes, there are a lot of people working to bring these losses down. Trying to improve the health of the honey bee.
So, you can see. The fight goes on to save the honey bee. It will not stop.
That’s Agri View for today. I’m Everett Griner…
