In today’s Agri View, Everett Griner talks about the pickup truck and the changes in its use.
You know it wasn’t built just for farmers, but the pickup truck was promoted as a farm vehicle. From 1903 to 2000 that is where you found it mostly. And then it changed. But the pickup is still one of the top moneymakers out of Detroit.
This year, all three major builders are showing newly designed models. And, they are not necessarily designed for farmers. No. It isn’t for farmers anymore. It is for profit. The figures I have show that trucks will earn a much bigger profit than cars.
But, the pickup lost its farm image when they added a second seat and two more doors. And the price is generally more expensive than a car. Farmers do buy pickups, because farmers still need pickups. And they are found on just practically every farm in the country.
That’s Agri View for today. I’m Everett Griner…
