Everett Griner talks about the United States out of TPP Trade Group in today’s Agri View.
Agriculture Trade Changes
If you know anything at all about agriculture you will know the importance of export trade. Particularly, every crop we grow/produce commercially, is involved in this process. I have talked many times about NAFTA, the North American Free Trade Agreement. Which includes the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
There is another trade group called the TPP, that’s Trans-Pacific Partnership, but it does not include the United States. It does include 11 countries in the Western hemisphere. But, U.S. exports do flow to many of these TPP countries. China is the biggest.
America was a member of TPP but our government officials pulled us out last year. I don’t know why. But, it has to do with tariffs paid by each importing country. Yes, it will have an impact on U.S. agriculture. But, it isn’t clear what and how much it will be right now.
We will just have to wait and see.
That’s Agri View for today, I’m Everett Griner…
