Everett Griner talks about the feral hog fight that has grown to 38 states in today’s Agri View.
With all of the research and technology, everything we have done has done little to solve a problem that is still spreading across our country — feral hogs. I get a report from a different state just about every month. Officials have told me everything. Some states even pay a bounty for every hog destroyed. It has resulted in many hunting clubs being formed. But, it has done little to reduce the wild hog population. Now officials in one midwestern state claim to have a moderate success with a new trapping program. They have counted more hogs removed than through their hunting club. Today, total damage to land, crops, and wildlife from feral hogs in the United States is pegged at 1.5 billion dollars every year. They are now a problem in 38 states. But, the effort goes on in all 38 states.
That’s Agri View for today. I’m Everett Griner…
