Everett Griner talks about the pesticide residue on our food and what, if anything, is being done to cut down on it in today’s Agri View.
Who doesn’t like fresh strawberries? Here is something you will not like. If they are conventionally grown, you are getting a taste pesticide residue with every bite. Yes. U.S. agriculture uses almost 700 million tons of pesticide every year. They couldn’t grow crops without it. And, although there are strict regulations on how it is used, with intricate systems to remove it. There is some residue left. USDA tested almost 7,000 products that contained some pesticide residue. Be assured there is nothing to fear. USDA is constantly looking for ways to improve the system of detecting and removing that slight amount of residue left on the food you consume. Some European countries are ahead of us in that endeavor. Well, I guess that is good to know.
That’s Agri View for today. I’m Everett Griner…
