Everett Griner talks about the shaking up of the NAFTA trade deal in today’s Agri View.
Farmers in general, agriculture in particular, is looking at anxiety at our president’s involvement in NAFTA. NAFTA, that’s North American Free Trade Agreement. If you don’t know, that is
Canada, Mexico and the U.S.A.
It may not be the best international trade deal. It is one that participants don’t want to see changed. Necessarily. It involves 3.5 billion dollars a day.
In Mexico changing it is about as popular as building a wall.
Canadians aren’t swarming with any changes either.
NAFTA involves a lot more than food but food is the major part of it. Nobody wants to see it changed unless they know it will be improved. We don’t know what our president’s current change is to be.
It is a good case of where ‘if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’.
That’s Agri View for today. I’m Everett Griner.
