Everett Griner talks about the effect of farming proposals and laws in today’s Agri View.
How would you like it if someone that knew nothing about your job or your business tried to tell you how to run it? Isn’t that ridiculous? Well it is happening to farmers. Massachusetts passed a law recently that regulates how farmers can house chickens that lay their eggs. What kind of pens they have to raise pigs and calves. And, Oklahoma voters soundly defeated a “Right to Farm” proposal that stripped farmers of certain rights to farm. There are other proposals soon to be voted in other states that will regulate certain things farmers can and cannot do to produce crops and livestock. Now I ask you. Is this fair? People who have never been on a farm, telling those who have spent their lives on a farm, how to operate. That is like me, telling you, how to run your business. How would you like that?
That’s Agri View for today. I’m Everett Griner.
