Tallahassee, FL – Following the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation’s announcement of $4.18 million in funding for Apalachicola Bay oyster restoration research, Commissioner of Agriculture Adam H. Putnam issued the following statement:
“The $4.18 million infusion of funding from the National Federation of Fish and Wildlife for Apalachicola Bay oyster restoration comes at a critical time. Apalachicola’s oyster industry has been devastated by the inadequate water flow to the bay and this investment will help improve shelling and harvesting practices and give a much-needed boost to the local economy.”
