Importing honey bees from Australia has grown in recent years as a way to augment U.S. bee production but the USDA has found that exotic honey bee pathogens may have recently been introduced into the country. The agency is seeking written comments on whether sanitary measures are needed to reduce the possibility of introducing those pathogens into U.S. colonies.
