The USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA) announced last week that the Dairy Margin Coverage (DMC) safety-net sign-up for 2021 coverage will begin October 12. Producers have plenty of time to decide whether or not to enroll in the program. But some FSA offices have yet to allow producers to actually come in to the office. Some are doing on a limited basis per appointments only, but no one knows for sure at this time what that situation will be like in October. Here is FSA Administrator Richard Fordyce.
DMC has already triggered payments for two months for producers who signed up for 2020 coverage. According to a story from Gary Crawford, the program is proving its worth so far this year, as it’s helping producers mitigate risk during these times of market uncertainties.
Sign-up for DMC 2021 coverage begins October 12 and will run through December 11, 2020.
